LTA Completes Installation of Half Height Platform Screen Doors

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has completed the installation of half height platform screen doors on all 36 elevated stations on the North South East West Line (NSEWL).

2         The platform screen doors at the final station, Kranji MRT station, started operation this morning.

3         Mr Hawazi Daipi, Senior Parliamentary Secretary (Ministry of Education & Ministry of Manpower) and Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC (Marsiling) said: "I am pleased that the LTA has completed the installation of half height platform screen doors on all elevated stations ahead of time. This will help prevent track intrusions and provide a smoother journey for commuters."

Background on Half Height Platform Screen Doors

4         The installation of half height platform screen doors is an initiative introduced in the Land Transport Master Plan to reduce the incidence of track intrusions.

5         Pasir Ris was the first station to be fitted with half height platform screen doors under the pilot stage in 2009. The screen doors were subsequently rolled out to all stations.
