The completion of the road widening and junction improvement
works will ease traffic congestion at the two junctions during peak hours,
resulting in smoother traffic along Upper Bukit Timah Road for motorists.
Prohibition of right turn during peak periods
To further improve the efficiency of traffic at the Hillview
Road junction, all vehicles, except public buses, will be prohibited from making
right turns from Hillview Road to Upper Bukit Timah Road, during peak periods:
from 0700 to 0900 hours, and from 1730 to 1930 hours, from Monday to
Friday, excluding public holidays. This change in traffic scheme will take
effect from 15 October 2004 at 1030 hrs.
Motorists travelling from Hillview Avenue towards the city
can take the following alternative routes:
1) Use Hume Avenue to Upper Bukit Timah Road; and
2) Use Hillview Road, turn left to Upper Bukit Timah Road and
make a U-turn at Dairy Farm Road junction
Directional signs will be placed well in advance to inform
motorists of the change. Motorists are advised to drive carefully and follow the
directional signs on display.

About Upper Bukit Timah Road
The widening and junction improvement works are part of the
project to upgrade Upper Bukit Timah Road, between Old Jurong Road and Gombak
Drive. The upgrading project is in its second phase, and it involves widening
this stretch of Upper Bukit Timah Road from a dual two-lane to a dual three-lane
carriageway. Phase one of the project saw the construction of a vehicular
underpass and flyover at Jalan Anak Bukit, which was completed and opened for
use in March 2003.
When widening works between Old Jurong Road and Gombak Drive are completed by
end 2005, motorists will enjoy smoother travel along Upper Bukit Timah, from
Clementi to Gombak Drive.
