| Opening Of Geylang Bahru Bridge Between Upper Boon Keng Road And Geylang Bahru |

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is pleased to announce the opening of a new bridge across the Kallang River, linking Geylang Bahru and Upper Boon Keng Road, on Saturday, 16 July 2005 at 10.00am. The new bridge will better connect Kallang Bahru and Geylang Bahru to Upper Boon Keng Road and Sims Avenue. It will also provide residents of Kallang and Boon Keng area a convenient link between the two areas. Construction of the bridge commenced in 30 May 2002 and cost a total of S$9.4 millions. The signalised pedestrian crossing at Upper Boon Keng Road will also be commissioned at the same time, to regulate pedestrian flow and enhance safety along the road.
