1     The Land Transport Authority (LTA) had earlier announced on 12 November 2007 that it will be providing more taxi stands within the Central Business District (CBD) as part of its measures to improve taxi services.

2     Currently, there are 80 taxi stands/stops in the CBD. To improve taxi services within the CBD, LTA had identified an additional 15 taxi stands to be installed within the CBD by end December 2007 so that there will be a taxi stand within 300 metres or a five-minute walk from buildings within the CBD. A list of the 15 additional taxi stands is attached at Annex A.

3     LTA will coordinate with the taxi companies and taxi driver associations to encourage drivers to pick up passengers from taxi stands.

4     The LTA will continue to work together with the taxi companies and taxi driver associations to identify more locations within the CBD for taxi stands, to make it more convenient for commuters and taxi drivers.
