The Land Transport Authority (LTA), Traffic Police (TP) and
Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) are conducting a 3-month trial
traffic diversion scheme, which aims to provide a smoother traffic flow to
residents in Woodlands. Residents living in the Woodlands area, students taking
school buses, commuters using public buses and motorists visiting the area for
other activities are expected to benefit from the easing of congestion due to
the scheme.
2 Motorcycles and heavy vehicles (with the exception of SBST
and SMRT buses, and school buses) are currently not allowed to turn right into
the Woodlands Checkpoint from Woodlands Centre Road at all times. Under the new
traffic scheme to be implemented from Monday, 15 September 2008, 4 pm onwards,
all other vehicles (except for SBST and SMRT buses, and school buses) will be
restricted from turning right into the Woodlands Checkpoint from Woodlands
Centre Road during peak hours. The restriction hours for the various types of
vehicles are summarized below:

3 During these periods, motorists from Woodlands Centre Road
wanting to enter the Woodlands Checkpoint will not be allowed to turn into
Woodlands Crossing. Instead, they should proceed straight into Old Woodlands
Road or to BKE; these roads will serve as the alternative routes during the
stipulated hours.
4 Traffic signs will be displayed prominently at Woodlands
Centre Road and along all roads leading to the Checkpoint to alert motorists of
the new traffic scheme. Traffic Police officers will also be deployed at the
traffic junctions and along these roads to guide motorists during the initial
implementation period.
