Singapore, 31 October 2008 - The Land Transport
Authority (LTA) and NETS joint investigations have pointed to about 2,900 NETS
CashCards as the cause of compatibility problems when used in the In-Vehicle
Unit (IU). There are currently about 4.5 million NETS CashCards in circulation.
These NETS CashCards have been removed from the system through integrated
testing of IUs/NETS CashCards at the LTA Authorised Inspection Centres. Affected
cards have been replaced with new generation NETS CashCards. TÜV
SÜD PSB tests conducted on the NETS CashCards, currently being sold
on the market, show the cards are working well with the IU.
Apart from this, figures from the LTA Authorised Inspection
Centres show the number of motorists who turn up at the centre to have their
NETS CashCards and IUs tested have resumed to normal levels.
LTA and NETS are committed to make ERP transactions as
efficient as possible and will continue to offer motorists a one-stop centre for
integrated testing of their NETS CashCards/ IUs.
