1.     From Monday, 17 November 2008, normal bus lanes will be implemented at three locations along Commonwealth Avenue, Commonwealth Avenue West and Queensway. Please refer to Annex A for the locations.

2.     The normal bus lanes will operate during peak hours from 7.30am to 9.30am and from 5pm to 8pm on weekdays.

3.     Extending the normal bus lane scheme to these three locations is in line with the Land Transport Master Plan's objectives to enable buses to move more quickly. As buses are more efficient carriers, with a higher number of passengers per unit road space as compared to other vehicles, it is necessary to give priority to buses so that more commuters reach their destinations on time.

4.     There are now a total of 22km of full-day bus lanes and 156km of normal bus lanes since the expansion of the bus lane scheme, started in June this year.
