The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is pleased
to announce the completion of the vehicular underpass at the Central Expressway
(CTE)/Braddell Road interchange. The vehicular underpass will be opened to
traffic on 14 November 2002 at 10.00 am.
CTE/Braddell Road Interchange
Works on the upgrading of CTE/Braddell Road
interchange started in June 1999 and involved the construction of a 100-metre
long vehicular underpass and an approximately 350-metre long depressed
carriageway along Braddell Road.
The project also involved the realigning and
widening of the four slip roads leading to and from CTE. Upgrading works on
these four slip roads are currently on going and expected to complete by January
2003.
With the opening of the vehicular underpass,
traffic flow at the junction of CTE and Braddell Road is expected to improve.
Through traffic along Braddell Road will no longer be disrupted by traffic
turning into and out of CTE. This in turn will reduce the tailbacks along CTE as
more traffic light green time can be given to motorists turning into and from
Braddell Road.
On-going programme to improve Road Network
The upgrading of the CTE/Braddell Road interchange is part of
LTA's on-going programme to improve the Outer Ring Road system and to increase
the traffic carrying capacity of the road network. LTA is also currently
carrying out road improvement works along Braddell Road at the junction with
Bishan Road.
