The ez-link Card will fully replace the magnetic Farecard with effect from 1 December 2002. The ez-link Card will be used for travel on all buses and the MRT/LRT. Commuters are reminded that existing magnetic Farecards can no longer be used from 1 December 2002 onwards.

Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents and holders of Employment Pass, Work Permit and Foreign Student Pass can continue to buy their first adult ez-link Card at a lower deposit of $3 (i.e. the cost of the card is $13, including a $3 deposit and a $10 stored value) at any TransitLink Ticket Office up till 31 December 2002.

The adult and Senior Citizen ez-link Cards will be issued at the normal deposit of $5 (i.e. the cost of the card is $15, including a $5 deposit and a $10 stored value) with effect from 1 January 2003. The $3 personalisation fees for Senior Citizen ez-link cards will also be chargeable from next year.

Commuters are reminded to take good care of their cards. The card cost of $6 and personalisation cost of $3 for replacement of lost or damaged concession cards, which have been waived since the launch of ez-link cards, will be reinstated from 1 January next year.

Today, about 3 million rides are made using the ez-link Card on the bus and MRT/LRT.
